A Land Remembered is “a big, rough-tough, folksy Florida saga… But it is also an epic portrayal of the American pioneer will to survive against all odds. And finally it is the story of land, how at first bare survival is scratched from it and then how it is exploited far beyond human need.” The author, Patrick D Smith, was nominated seven times for the Pulitzer Prize and five times for the Nobel Prize for Literature and was inducted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame in 1999. A Land Remembered has been ranked #1 Best Florida Book eight times.
