Let’s Talk About Florida – A River of Grass

Thursday, January 14, 2021
4:00 pm

Watch Recording

Join in a lively conversation about Florida history highlighting one of the books on our Florida Reading List.

The Everglades: River of Grass by Marjory Stoneman Douglas

Thanks to everyone who signed up for the book discussion of A Land Remembered and for those who viewed and participated in it.  We’d love to hear your thoughts as to how successful (or not) it was.  Thanks for any ideas as to how to make our future discussions better.

Speaking of future discussions, we have scheduled the next one for January 14 at 4 p.m.  The book is Everglades: A River of Grass by Marjorie Stoneman Douglas  written in 1947.  The book became the impetus to efforts to preserve the Everglades – a task which continues.  An afterword by Michael Grunwald comments on what has happened since the book’s publication.  You can sign up to get the Zoom link for the discussion by registering below, by email to kkyle@leegov.com or by calling Kim at 964-1600.

Please check out our Florida book list of both fiction and non-fiction books about Florida and by Florida authors.

Free Zoom Event but registration (see below) is required in order to receive the link to access the program.

Registration Deadline: January 13, 4pm
